Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim will field middle this week a composite team to inspect the establishments which were earlier reported to have illegally tapped to the newly completed P45-million drainage project along Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, this city.
He said the inspection team will be led by the City Health Office under Dr. Antonio Porticos.

Illegal logging cause DENR heads reshuffle

Six key officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) here in the province were reshuffled following reports of unabated illegal logging in towns declared as protected areas.
The order came directly from Environment Secretary Lito Atienza last Monday, giving DENR regional director Leonardo Sibaluca 72 hours to investigate the alleged cutting of trees in the towns of Batuan, Ubay, Catigbian and municipalities within the Rajah Sikatuna Protected Landscape and the Bayongan Dam watershed.

| Dengue cases up by 34% - health dept. |

MANILA- The country recorded 9,176 cases of dengue fever nationwide from January 1 to April 5 this year, an increase of almost 34 percent over the same period last year, the health department said yesterday.
Deaths due to dengue fever reached 108 in the year to April 5, a sharp increase from the 74 deaths recorded in the same period last year, according to figures released by the department.
